It’s good to see some Tejanos showing ineretst in your website. I have read about Tejanos from other Tejano Historians but, none are as accurate and precise with their information as you are. Especially with the term Mexican American that they use so confidently and which has many Tejanos feeling comfortable and accepting of that identity. I fear the Tejano culture will one day suffer the consequences of mistaken identity and become extinct and known as a lost culture. The influx of cultures, coming into the United States and speak the same language and have the same color of skin, will eventually overshadow the Tejano culture. My hope is that all Tejanos will become aware of the difference in cultures of Spanish speaking descent and that of the Tejano. Also that they will understand that Tejano is not just about the music and start to embrace the Tejano true identity, unite as one voice and take all necessary procedures to preserve our culture, music and identity before it becomes a case of extinction. Tejanos are already unrecognized or acknowledged as a culture. We have to speak up to be heard and petition to make things happen. Tejanos have to reach those in the political realm and make them listen. All educational institutions should educate on the history about the Tejano culture, especially about the true identity of the Tejano, based on facts. Rudy, thanks for all your hard work. You’re the only reason I have been able to understand it all and accept my true identity TEJANA.
